Indiana Jones Artifacts for your Grave-Robbing Adventures

If you know your gaming history, you know about the Indiana Jones RPG. While all copies at TSR were burnt after they lost the license, you can continue playing via PDFs you may still find of it online, or with Savage Worlds (my preferred option).

Today, however, I want to take a look at all the powerful artifacts out there that you could use in your own adventures of heroes in the 1930’s killing Nazis via airplane propeller while robbing graves.

The Indiana Jones franchise has a lot of great artifacts they’ve shown. Often there are multiple artifacts in each movie, with a few smaller artifacts leading to a larger and more impressive piece that has true magical power.

Here we have a link to all the different artifacts found in the Indiana Jones franchise, some magical, some not. Using this list, once you take a look at Wikipedia’s extensive list of mythological items, you can see how many untapped items there are out there to use for your own games!

Here are a few of my favorites:

The Sword of St. Peter: Thought to be the sword wielded by St. Peter in the Garden of Gethsemene, it’s said to reside in Poznań in Poland. The Nazis could be moving to claim it during the invasion of Poland, requiring the heroes to stop them.

Gunnar’s Atgeir: A polearm carried by an Icelandic chieftain, the atgeir would make a ringing sound or “sing” when it was taken down in anticipation of bloodshed. This would allow the heroes to travel to Iceland during the war.

Tide Jewels: These Japanese jewels, called hirutama/kanju and mitsutama/manju could control the tides. Perfect for Imperial Japan or the Nazis to get ahold of to get the upper hand, if the heroes don’t stop them.

Tablet of Destinies: In Mesopotamian mythology, this set of clay tablets hold the power of creation and destruction.

And these are just a few of them! There are so many, you’d never run out of options. Have fun!
