Sophisticated Games and Free League Announce Acquisition of The One Ring RPG
Sophisticated Games has announced that they will hold the license for The One Ring RPG and its 5e D&D version on June 1, and will be publishing the game. The original designers will remain as lead designers. You can see the press release below, which includes many of the successful games Free League has produced.

Sophisticated Games Ltd is delighted to announce that, with effect from June 1st 2020, it has concluded an agreement with Free League Publishing to be its new partner in the creation of roleplaying games set in Middle-earth and based on the books by JRR Tolkien. The series was authored by Francesco Nepitello and Marco Maggi. They will continue as lead designers.
Free League has published a range of award-winning tabletop role-playing games and critically acclaimed art books set in strange and wondrous worlds. Their game range include the alternate ’80s Tales from the Loop (winner of five ENnie Awards 2017, including Best Game), sandbox retro fantasy Forbidden Lands (winner of four ENnie Awards 2019), post-apocalyptic Mutant: Year Zero (Silver ENnie for Best Rules 2015), space opera Coriolis – The Third Horizon (Judge’s Spotlight Award 2017), dark fantasy Symbaroum, and the official ALIEN RPG.
