Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game: The Blue Wizards
Wilt thou learn the lore || that was long secret
of the Five that came || from a far country?
One only returned. || Others never again
—”The Istari”, Unfinished Tales
The two Blue Wizards (Ithryn Luin) came East into Middle Earth alongside Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast in order to help the people of Middle Earth against the dangers of Sauron and the forces of evil.
The two Blue Wizards haven’t appeared in the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game, though they were statted up as members of the Council of Wizards in War of the Ring, which is where they received their Games Workshop names: Naurandir and Sulrandir.
I decided to stat them up, giving them modified versions of the powers they were given in War of the Ring. I’ve chosen to make Naurandir more of a support wizard, bolstering allies, while Sulrandir is a wizard of storms and area control.
If you think the points should be changed, I’d love know, because I didn’t really spend a lot of times trying to perfectly balance them for the points.
I’m placing the models next to the stats that I intend to use for the two wizards.

I love the work done on these profiles! I did a bunch of research in the lore (of the little Tolkien left on the blue wizards) and actually have been refining profiles for Alatar and Pallando over the last four years. The link below is to our latest version of their profiles. They have special rules reflective of the lore. I’d love to compare notes! My only concern about these profiles you’ve offered on this page is giving them 2 attacks. The other wizards do not have 2 attacks, and I would suggest that neither should the blue wizards. That said, I think they have other fun things they could add to the game, hence the work I did on their profiles. I’ve posted them in the link below, but this link is to a file uploaded to our local league in Ontario Canada (www.facebook.com/groups/osbgl), and facebook might require you to join that group in order to download the file… or email me and I’ll send it to you! I’d love your thoughts on it.
