Play Your Class: Bard

This week we’re looking at the Jack of all trades, the Bard.

The Bard is most known for their musical talents, channeling the power of music into arcane magic.

The origin of the Bard comes from the UK, where, descending from the Skalds of the north, they were great storytellers and singers. In Ireland, they were hereditary professional caste.

My favorite roleplaying tips blog, Roleplaying Tips, has a great list of 6 Bard Tips.

A lot of Bards carry a lute as their instrument of choice. This video explains all you need to know about the lute.

Many Bards utilize a rapier. Shadiversity, one of my favorite YouTubers for his great explanation of medieval weapons and fortifications, has a great video about rapiers.

One of the primary inspirations for D&D Bards is the extensive musical collection of Lord of the Rings. Clamavi De Profundis has a great playlist of Tolkien’s music which they’ve recorded.
