I, Also, Love D&D Next

I’m writing this post as a response to That Robed Guy’s post about loving D&D Next, and he’s right on the nose.

From the minute I saw it, I was in love.

I had the opportunity to be involved in the very first Friends & Family Playtest of D&D Next back in January. The system was fluid and interesting, with some great drag-and-drop elements to it, and I found I could run whole dungeons in only a couple of hours.

With each new playtest package, I like the game more. Some complexity has been added, which disappointed me, but so many good things have been added to the system, it’s well worth those changes I didn’t like.

The game is elegant and gives you the ability to make a dynamic and interesting character in only a couple of minutes like a dream.

Here’s my plan: Come March, when I begin receiving all of my Reaper Bones minis, I want to run a truly epic D&D Next game, with all the bells and whistles, and try to evoke an old-school feel to the game. Over the next couple months, I’ll be posting up ideas and updates to my plans. Keep an eye out for that.
