From Concept to Character Sheet: Kibur Blastblade Concept

Over the next few days, I’d like to show you the creation of a character within the new Star Wars RPG: Edge of the Empire. I’ll be using the first character I ever played in an RPG, one I’m still playing today: Kibur Blastblade.

Kibur Blastblade is a smuggler, untrustworthy, and generally bad news. The first time I played him, his ship was boarded by pirates, and be barely escaped with his life. When I began to run Star Wars d20, he was a GMPC, used as the  group’s pilot. Now, 10 years later, in my Play-By-Post game, he’s beginning to tap into his potential as a Force-sensitive, and learning the ways of the Force while on the run from the Empire.

We’ll be creating him as a starting character.

So, to flesh out the concept, we have a smuggler who’s a fantastic pilot, gets his skill from being Force-sensitive (which early in the story he doesn’t even know) and he’s pretty handy with a blaster pistol.

Naturally, we’ll make him a human, but what to do about his career? Within the Edge of the Empire, there are eight possible careers, and within those are three skill trees to choose from. I think we’ll go with the Smuggler career, as that seems to match him most closely, but I have the option of giving him the Pilot, Scoundrel or Thief talent tree. Looking over the Thief, it doesn’t quite match the character. Between Scoundrel and Pilot, both match him pretty well.

We’ll go with Scoundrel, I think. Stop in tomorrow, when we begin to actually build the character.
