A little homework for the members of of the RPG Blog Alliance…

Hey everyone!

Recently, the RPGBA has formed, and there’s a big emphasis on community; there’s a forum, a wiki, and tons of people joining.

Here’s a proposal to all of you members: Dedicate yourself to commenting on three blogs a day.

When you get comments on your blog, it lets you know that people are reading, and putting out comments on someone’s blog gives you exposure from other people as well.

I’ll be doing so. I encourage you to do the same.

That’s a great idea. Consider this blogger committed!

Agreed. I’ve been personally committing myself to commenting on the blog posts I read as much as possible. My reasoning is that if the writer put the effort into writing it, and I thought it interesting enough to click on from the blog feed, then I can put in the (significantly lower) effort to provide feedback. Sure, it adds 2-5 min per post to my blog reading habits, but it’s also my way of giving back to the bloggers. I know from personal experience in occasionally writing for blogs that I love to read comments on my posts. It personally validates that my message was received and others considered it worthy of reading. To give back the same appreciation is only being a good internet citizen in my opinion.

That’s a pretty good project. I’ve been trying to get myself to comment more on other blogs and I think a goal of 3 comments a day is pretty achievable, given I only really read that many posts a day. I don’t have as much time as I used to (or perhaps I don’t DEDICATE as much time) so I will try to render insightful additions to three blogs a day from now on.

Simple but effective idea. I comment everything I read anyways. Same reasons as above, I love comments on my stuff so I can imagine how much others like it too. It is a common courtesy for me to do so. But I will make an effort to even read more :-)

Good suggestion! I often leave comments on posts I read, but I know I should try to do this more often. I know that it’s a good feeling for me when I get a comment on my blog, so I should try to spread the love.

Great idea. Like OnlineDM, I may read but not always comment.

Me too. I’m very guilty of reading without commenting. I’m posting this as both an encouragement to others, and also a reminder to myself.

Very good idea. Commenting on 3 posts a day is something most people can manage pretty easily. Very good goal.

That’s actually a great idea. One of the best ways to build a sense of community is to read and comment on fellow bloggers’ posts. I have to admit I am not commenting as much as I should. But I will use your post as a reminder. :)
