Splicing Genres: Sci-Fi/Super Heroes

Previously, I had mentioned splicing genres together to create interesting new settings. I’d like to cover, in detail, some different mashups of various settings and see what we end up with.
Today’s entry: Sci-Fi/Super Heroes.
Imagine a setting where the Solar system has been fully populated, with not just colonies, but whole cities and metropolises across the planets and moons. The defense forces of the system against threats both within and beyond are not starfighters, as one would think, but manned suits, looking a lot like Iron Man suits, though perhaps more like the “Hammeroids” in Iron Man 2.
The great thing is, if you’re using a super hero setting to run this, is that you just make sure everyone takes at least a little armor, and from there, every suit could be different. One character might shoot energy, while another fires missiles, while another is entirely close combat based. These fearless heroes would soar through the black, battling not only other iron man-type suits, but also possibly alien invasions and the like. They could also get sent out to scout out potential mining operations on asteroids and the like, as well.
That’s about all for now. What do you think? Let me know if you give this a try in your game.
