A Difficult Choice

This figure would be the Swordmage.
I’d like everyone to read this and give me their opinion.
We’ve been plotting out ideas for a new 4e campaign, set in a world of our own devising. I’ll be DMing, but we plan on switching DMs around so anyone who wants to gets a chance. This means I’ll be needing a character of my own, which is thrilling. The only problem? I don’t know what to choose.
Here’s what I’m torn between:
A Shadar-Kai Avenger of the Raven Queen
A Half-Elf Warlord (the Diplomat and leader of the group)
An Eladrin Swordmage (Teleporting around the battlefield)
I also plan on painting the miniatures for everyone, something I haven’t done in a long, long time, and I’ve got perfect figures for any of these three PCs. So, what do I choose? I’ll be taking your votes. I encourage everyone to let me know their opinion.
Well, that depends on what you feel like painting. Personally, I would go for either the swordmage (and make him shiny energy swords) or the Avenger for the shrouds of doomy death running around and dark colored, flow-y clothes.
As far as actual play goes, I vote for whatever you didn’t have a chance to play yet!
I think the swordmage looks like the most fun. I was playing around with the hybrid rules & I think swordmage-wizards work really, really well.
(And, predictably, there are numerous CharOp threads devoted to that combination, and the cruel, cruel things you can do to the swordmage at-will called ‘Sword Burst’)
Did you paint the mini in the photo? If so – very nice work!

Sorry, didn’t care for the avenger as much as the Pally. YMMV though.
No, that wasn’t my paint job. I wish it was, but I got that off the Reaper Miniatures website.
Thanks for everyone’s comments, everyone! It’s a lot to think about, and I’ll have to consider. I’m getting pretty equal comments suggesting the Shadar-Kai and the Spellsword. Hmm…
